I have a vast experience of what ceremony components would suit you and your family be best. It will be fun and will not cost you extra!!

WE WOULD LOVE TO SAY OUR WEDDING VOWS IN THE GROUNDS OF OUR PARENTS’ GARDEN… IS THIS POSSIBLE?

Yes you can hold your ceremony anywhere you like but should be mindful of the English weather if planning on holding it out of doors.

WE PLAN TO MARRY OVERSEAS BUT WOULD LIKE A CEREMONY ON OUR RETURN FOR OUR FAMILY AND FRIENDS WHO COULD NOT JOIN US. IS THIS POSSIBLE?

I will plan a very special ceremony where you can renew the vows you made overseas whether that was one week or one year previously.

WHEN DO I NEED TO BOOK YOU AS MY INDEPENDENT CELEBRANT?

I advise you to book as soon as you have made up your mind. An early booking will secure the date in my diary and save disappointment!

WOULD YOU BE WILLING TO WORK WITH A RELIGIOUS MINISTER?

YES. I would be delighted to share your ceremony.

I could create a ceremony from start to finish, and be the ‘celebrant’ for all proceedings. I could start with the traditional western style of marriage ceremony and introduce the minister of your choice to step up and provide the spiritual blessing or traditions of your faith.

I AM ATHEIST, HOW CAN OUR CEREMONY BEMAD PERSONAL TO US BOTH?

I will be very comfortable conducting a ceremony to reflect your own personal wishes and in a manner that helps bring both of you joy and happiness.

Yes most definitely. I will work with you to ensure those elements of prayers or hymns that you would like are included whatever your faith.

No it does not matter to me what your faith or belief is. I will conduct a ceremony befitting your wishes and that reflects your own spiritual beliefs.

CAN WE WRITE OUR OWN WEDDING VOWS?

Yes of course! This is something I encourage all my couples to do, ensuring the vows are truly personal and poignant to you both and that they are created and said with meaning and sincerity. I will encourage you to personalize your ceremony as much as possible.

HOW EARLY DO YOU ARRIVE ON THE DAY OF THE WEDDING?

I usually arrive 45-60 minutes before the start of the ceremony. I will firstly coordinate with other professions such as musicians and photographers, etc.)I will introduce myself to the key figures participating in your ceremony and instruct them on all they are required to do!

WHEN WILL YOU MEET THE BRIDE AND GROOM?

I will expect to meet the bridegroom 35 minutes before the start of the ceremony and with the bride at a convenient to her, following my arrival. I strongly advise that you are BOTH READY 30 minutes before the scheduled start time.

WHY DO YOU NEED TO MEET WITH US AT THIS TIME?

Basically to establish you still want to go ahead! Seriously, the main reason will be to settle your nerves and to reassure you both that you will be in my safe competent hands and do not have to concern yourselves about what to say when to say it and when to stand or sit! Just follow my lead .. you will do nothing wrong!

WOULD YOU ALLOW ANOTHER CELEBRANT OR MINISTER, POSSIBLY OF A DIFFERENT RELIGION, OR A FRIEND OR RELATIVE TO TAKE PART IN THE CEREMONY?

Of course. I am familiar with many venues   particularly venues in and around my home town of Rye, East  Sussex. Just let me know the type of venue you would like, and your approximate budget, and I’ll offer a few suggestions.

IS THERE ANY PLACE YOU WON’T PERFORM A WEDDING?

Well, if there is, I have not found it yet! I have done ceremonies indoors and outdoors, on the beach in private houses and gardens, in hotels, restaurants, banquet halls, private homes. As long as I can get there safely, I will go wherever you plan your ceremony to be!

WHAT DO YOU WEAR WHEN YOU OFFICIATE AT A WEDDING?

I will wear whatever you would like me to wear! I have many elegant suits and dresses of different colours and styles and would also be happy to fit into a theme if normal clothing is not the order of the day! Whether your ceremony is casual and less formal or amore formal and elegant evening affair, I will make every effort to look elegant and distinguished in whatever I wear. Being non-denominational I will not wear religious robes or vestments .I will however be pleased to don a robe for a  Handfasting ceremony.

Of course. I  find the wedding customs and traditions of other cultures and religions fascinating, and would be happy to learn about, and incorporate, appropriate elements into your wedding ceremony.

IF WE DECIDE TO HAVE A WEDDING ‘RITUAL’ SUCH AS THE UNITY CANDLE, HANDFASTING OR BLENDING OF THE SANDS IN OUR CEREMONY, DO YOU PROVIDE THE NECESSARY MATERIALS?

I will also be happy to help you find whatever you need, but also know that half the fun is sourcing these items yourselves!

WILL YOU MAKE AN ANNOUNCEMENT AFTER THE CEREMONY DIRECTING PEOPLE TO THE BAR, RECEPTION, PHOTOGRAPHER ETC?

Of course. Prior to my announcing you as the newly wed Mr.Mrs. I will take a moment to tell the guests what is occurring following  your exit from the room! My “Putting it All Together” form has a section for this time.

I AM NOT CHANGING MY SURNAME AFTER I MARRY. DO YOU HAVE TO ADDRESS US AS MR & MRS XXXX?

I will announce you both in whatever way you feel most comfortable, such as using your first names.”The newly wed …and …..

THERE ARE LOTS OF EXCELLENT CELEBRANTS OUT THERE… WHY SHOULD WE BOOK YOU?

You’re right –Choosing someone to officiate your wedding should be about trust and connection, but here are some things you might also consider while you’re making your decision:

I have conducted many hundreds of ceremonies for a wide variety of couples. No two couples are ever the same! I performed on average  75 weddings every year for quite a number of years. I know what couples want and what they do not get from a purely religious or civil service, so I must be doing something right!

I have conducted two ceremonies for ITV 4 weddings which were televised, I have also conducted other types of ceremonies including civil partnerships, renewal of vows, beach ceremonies, baby namings including twins, and Handfastings.

I am a member of two Celebrant organizations.

FOIC The Fellowship of Independent Celebrants and the AOIC The Association Of Independent Celebrants and as such have proven my qualification and status as a Celebrant.

Are you still undecided?

Then do not take my word for it. Read the many testimonials sent to me by satisfied couples and determine the level and quality of service I provide.

WE LOVE ALL THAT YOU OFFER, BUT CANNOT AFFORD YOUR FEES. IS THERE ANY WAY YOU COULD HELP US DO SO?

The quality and standard of me service and the ceremonies I provide warrants the fees I charge, so it is unlikely I  would be able to offer a discount.

However there are always extenuating circumstances to life’s key milestones and I would not want see a couple’s genuine love and dreams be shattered due to not considering any proposal to support them. Ask me…….. I may be able to help you keep your ceremony as affordable as possible.

ARE YOU LEGALLY ABLE TO MARRY US?

Unfortunately  No.

The PRESENT law in this country requires a religious minister to be carry out the legal marriage in a church, or a registrar in an approved marriage venue or registration office.

CHANGES ARE HAPPENING HOWEVER……

There is a legal ‘loophole’ that may permit you to be married legally by me in a premises with a religious licence. Details are best discussed with you both.

WHAT IS THE LEGAL REQUIREMENT FOR MARRIAGE?

The legal requirements to be married in this country are that a couple stand in front of a registrar in a place that is registered or licenced for civil marriages. They are required to repeat two sets of vows repeated after the registrar in the presence of two witnesses.

WHAT WORDS HAVE TO BE SAID TO MAKE A MARRIAGE LEGALLY BINDING?

The registrar will ask each of you in turn to declare that you know of no lawful reason why you may not be joined in matrimony to each other and to repeat these words after her.

“I do solemnly declare that I know not of any lawful impediment why I……. may not be joined in matrimony to ……….”

And words that form the marriage content.

“I call upon these persons here present to witness that I….. do take thee ….. to be my lawful wedded wife/husband.”

HOW LONG DOES IT TAKE TO GET LEGALLY MARRIED?

The quickest simplest marriage could be verbally completed in under five minutes! However it is quite feasible that you can arrange to be officially married in your local registration office in your lunch hour or on the morning of the day y9uo plan to have a wonderful personal ceremony led by an Independent Celebrant like me!

DO YOU ORGANISE THE LEGAL REGISTRATION OF OUR MARRIAGE FOR US?

Getting legally married is down to you as a couple to arrange. You will need to contact the Superintendent registrar in the district in which you live to register your intention to marry. You may choose to take your legal vows on the morning of your Wedding Ceremony, in the week preceding it or indeed you may have married legally overseas already.

HOW MUCH WILL IT COST TO GET LEGALLY MARRIED?

Marrying is probably the least expensive part of your wedding day! A simple registration service marriage midweek can be as little as £120 Purchasing your Marriage License is about the only thing I cannot do for you! You need to apply for your Marriage License in person.

WHAT DOES YOUR FEE COVER?

My fee is for my services relating to the planning, preparation and conducting of your ceremony.

HOW MUCH WILL MY CEREMONY COST?

Starting at £650 -£1,000

WEDFESTS and LOVEFESTS My fee for these unique and individual ceremonies is generally £850 owing to the varied nature of their location and often extra time involved.

My fees are flexible and can be customized to fit your budget; however much depends on the time of day, month and location of the venue and distance I have to travel.

As a general rule:

  • A local ceremony will be considerably less than one involving traveling costs or overnight accommodation.
  • My fees will vary according to the time of year and the time of day you wish to hold your ceremony.
  • My attention to detail is the same for a large ceremony as it is a smaller ceremony – every wedding, regardless of the circumstances, receives the same care and attention to detail.
  • Standard fees are the basic fee without telephone or actual rehearsal time included.
  • Full Wedding fees cover everything from start to completion.
  • A last minute elopement fee for a Handfasting or betrothal is based on the romance of the story you tell, and it being for a small group only. Max: £650.

DO YOU OFFER ANY DISCOUNTS?

CAN WE REHEARSE PRIOR TO THE CEREMONY ON A SEPARATE  DAY?

If you decide to rehearse on a separate day and would like me to attend, there’s an additional charge for time and travel to the location. The amount varies depending on distance, but we normally charge between £100-£150, and I will gladly conduct the rehearsal from beginning to end if requested.

As an alternative to help you save money, I am more than happy to run through the ceremony on the telephone with you both. Lots of my couples have chosen to do this as it is a very reassuring thing to do. A verbal rehearsal is included in your quoted price.

ARE THERE ANY ADDITIONAL COSTS WE SHOULD KNOW ABOUT?

Occasionally, situations do arise that may, at my sole require an additional charge:

  • If travel to the venue requires an out of the ordinary expense such as a ferry ride, flight or long train journey the cost of the fare will be added to my fee.
  • You may incur an additional charge if your ceremony starts more than 15 minutes late.
  • If there is no free parking available at the venue, I may ask that you reimburse me for any parking fees.

ARE WE EXPECTED TO PAY FOR ANY ADDITIONAL COSTS INVOLVED IN THE VENUE LOCATION?

I would expect you to pay for the out of ceremony expenses such as venue fees and costs at the location. Any unusual charges to get to your ceremony site on the day of your wedding (e.g., a chair lift if you are getting married at the top of a mountain, etc.) may also be added to my fee.

Yes. I will send  you confirmations and receipts following all payments.

I also accept payment in cash or by personal check at our initial consultation; or by check or money order via traditional “snail mail.”Payable to “Glenda Procter”.
