I will wear whatever you would like me to wear! I have many elegant suits and dresses of different colours and styles and would also be happy to fit into a theme if normal clothing is not the order of the day! I AM NOT CHANGING MY SURNAME AFTER I MARRY. DO YOU HAVE TO ADDRESS US AS MR & MRS XXXX?

THERE ARE LOTS OF EXCELLENT CELEBRANTS OUT THERE… WHY SHOULD WE BOOK YOU?

You’re right –Choosing someone to officiate your wedding should be about trust and connection, but here are some things you might also consider while you’re making your decision:

I have conducted many hundreds of ceremonies for a wide variety of couples. No two couples are ever the same! I performed on average  75 weddings every year for quite a number of years. I know what couples want and what they do not get from a purely religious or civil service, so I must be doing something right!

I have conducted two ceremonies for ITV 4 weddings which were televised, I have also conducted other types of ceremonies including civil partnerships, renewal of vows, beach ceremonies, baby namings including twins, and Handfastings.

I am a member of two Celebrant organizations.

FOIC The Fellowship of Independent Celebrants and the AOIC The Association Of Independent Celebrants and as such have proven my qualification and status as a Celebrant.

Are you still undecided?

Then do not take my word for it. Read the many testimonials sent to me by satisfied couples and determine the level and quality of service I provide.

WE LOVE ALL THAT YOU OFFER, BUT CANNOT AFFORD YOUR FEES. IS THERE ANY WAY YOU COULD HELP US DO SO?

The quality and standard of me service and the ceremonies I provide warrants the fees I charge, so it is unlikely I  would be able to offer a discount.

However there are always extenuating circumstances to life’s key milestones and I would not want see a couple’s genuine love and dreams be shattered due to not considering any proposal to support them. Ask me…….. I may be able to help you keep your ceremony as affordable as possible.

ARE YOU LEGALLY ABLE TO MARRY US?

Unfortunately  No.

The PRESENT law in this country requires a religious minister to be carry out the legal marriage in a church, or a registrar in an approved marriage venue or registration office.

CHANGES ARE HAPPENING HOWEVER……

There is a legal ‘loophole’ that may permit you to be married legally by me in a premises with a religious licence. Details are best discussed with you both.

WHAT IS THE LEGAL REQUIREMENT FOR MARRIAGE?

The legal requirements to be married in this country are that a couple stand in front of a registrar in a place that is registered or licenced for civil marriages. They are required to repeat two sets of vows repeated after the registrar in the presence of two witnesses.

WHAT WORDS HAVE TO BE SAID TO MAKE A MARRIAGE LEGALLY BINDING?

The registrar will ask each of you in turn to declare that you know of no lawful reason why you may not be joined in matrimony to each other and to repeat these words after her.

“I do solemnly declare that I know not of any lawful impediment why I……. may not be joined in matrimony to ……….”

And words that form the marriage content.

“I call upon these persons here present to witness that I….. do take thee ….. to be my lawful wedded wife/husband.”

HOW LONG DOES IT TAKE TO GET LEGALLY MARRIED?

The quickest simplest marriage could be verbally completed in under five minutes! However it is quite feasible that you can arrange to be officially married in your local registration office in your lunch hour or on the morning of the day y9uo plan to have a wonderful personal ceremony led by an Independent Celebrant like me!

DO YOU ORGANISE THE LEGAL REGISTRATION OF OUR MARRIAGE FOR US?

Getting legally married is down to you as a couple to arrange. You will need to contact the Superintendent registrar in the district in which you live to register your intention to marry. You may choose to take your legal vows on the morning of your Wedding Ceremony, in the week preceding it or indeed you may have married legally overseas already.

HOW MUCH WILL IT COST TO GET LEGALLY MARRIED?

Marrying is probably the least expensive part of your wedding day! A simple registration service marriage midweek can be as little as £120 Purchasing your Marriage License is about the only thing I cannot do for you! You need to apply for your Marriage License in person.

WEDFESTS and LOVEFESTS My fee for these unique and individual ceremonies is generally £850 owing to the varied nature of their location and extra time involved.

CAN WE REHEARSE PRIOR TO THE CEREMONY ON A SEPARATE  DAY?

If you decide to rehearse on a separate day and would like me to attend, there’s an additional charge for time and travel to the location. The amount varies depending on distance, but we normally charge between £100-£150, and I will gladly conduct the rehearsal from beginning to end if requested.

As an alternative to help you save money, I am more than happy to run through the ceremony on the telephone with you both. Lots of my couples have chosen to do this as it is a very reassuring thing to do. A verbal rehearsal is included in your quoted price.

ARE THERE ANY ADDITIONAL COSTS WE SHOULD KNOW ABOUT?

Occasionally, situations do arise that may, at my sole require an additional charge:

  • If travel to the venue requires an out of the ordinary expense such as a ferry ride, flight or long train journey the cost of the fare will be added to my fee.
  • You may incur an additional charge if your ceremony starts more than 15 minutes late.
  • If there is no free parking available at the venue, I may ask that you reimburse me for any parking fees.

ARE WE EXPECTED TO PAY FOR ANY ADDITIONAL COSTS INVOLVED IN THE VENUE LOCATION?

I would expect you to pay for the out of ceremony expenses such as venue fees and costs at the location. Any unusual charges to get to your ceremony site on the day of your wedding (e.g., a chair lift if you are getting married at the top of a mountain, etc.) may also be added to my fee.

WILL WE GET A BOOKING CONFIRMATION?

Yes. I will send  you confirmations and receipts following all payments.

I can provide either for you but would suggest that you both choose them yourselves thus making them personal and  special.

The choice of colour is purely personal and each colour represents a different virtue or quality. You may just choose colours that match your ceremony colour-scheme or which are your favourites. It does not matter.

CAN WE WEAR MEDIEVAL COSTUMES?

Yes. You can wear anything you like… or nothing at all!

WHAT IS A COMMITMENT CEREMONY?

A commitment ceremony or engagement ceremony can occur following your agreement to be with each other. Many couples pledge themselves in a formal way prior to the legal step to marriage. A Handfasting may also be a way of committing yourselves to each other as an alternative to taking the step to marriage.

WHAT TYPE OF CEREMONY CAN IT BE?

It can simply involve just the two of you in a special place or you may choose to have a big celebration with family and friends.

A civil funeral is conducted by an Independent celebrant just like me

WHAT IS THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN A MINISTER CONDUCTING A FUNERAL AND AN INDEPENDENT CELEBRANT?
